Our approach to depression

We use a combination of medication management and supportive therapy referrals to address depression. Treatment is personalized based on severity, history, and your specific symptoms.

What your first depression appointment looks like

The initial evaluation runs 60 to 90 minutes over secure video. Bright Setorglo, PMHNP-BC takes a full history — how long symptoms have lasted, what makes them better or worse, sleep, medical conditions, family history, and anything you have already tried. There is no rushing and no ten-minute intake.

You leave the first visit with a working diagnosis, a written plan, and, when medication is appropriate, a prescription sent electronically to the pharmacy you choose. Follow-up visits run 20 to 30 minutes and are scheduled as closely as your plan needs — weekly at first if a medication is being started or adjusted, then spaced out as things stabilize.

Treatment options

Medication management — starting, adjusting, combining, or tapering psychiatric medication, with side effects reviewed at every visit.
Ongoing monitoring — symptom tracking between visits, so changes are caught early rather than at the next annual review.
Coordination — working alongside your therapist or primary care provider, and referring to therapy when that is the more effective next step.
Second opinions — reviewing an existing depression diagnosis or a medication regimen that is not working.

The Depression Screening (PHQ-9) takes 2-3 minutes and scores instantly. It is not a diagnosis, but it tells you whether an evaluation is worth booking — and gives your first visit a head start, because you arrive with a measured baseline instead of a guess.

Does insurance cover depression treatment?

In most cases, yes. We work with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Optum, Humana, Medicare, Medicaid, and most plans cover a telehealth psychiatric visit at the same rate as an in-person one. Self-pay rates are quoted before you book, so there is no surprise bill.

Where we treat depression

Online throughout Texas — you need to be physically located in Texas at the time of your visit. Same-day and next-day appointments are common, and most new patients are seen within 24 to 48 hours.
